About this Position:

Job Title: Design Engineer
Reports To: Engineering Manager
IR35 Status: Small Company Exemption
Length: 3-6 months + Extension if you get on well
Rate: Depending on experience

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and continuously improve products to suit both internal and external manufacturing processes.
• Support the engineering team throughout the product lifecycle from concept to launch, including ideation, design brief, concept, prototype, feasibility, detail design, validation, and launch.
• Generate manufacturing drawings and Bills of Materials (BoMs) based on a standard design scheme for the production of air blast radiators.
• Maintain drawings and electronic documents related to new products and engineering change control systems.
• Transfer existing CAD data between SolidWorks and Creo.

Job Accountabilities:

• Produce component and assembly drawings using 3D systems, ensuring the information provided is accurate and complete.
• Investigate new technologies and manufacturing processes to incorporate into new and existing designs.
• Liaise with external manufacturers and suppliers to establish specifications and costs for specialized equipment.
• Attend project and design review meetings to ensure designs progress according to the concept-to-launch process.
• Ensure all drawings and documentation are professionally recorded electronically for data retrieval and traceability.
• Assist the engineering team with the development and implementation of new products, improvement projects, and cost reduction efforts.
• Foster good working relationships with department colleagues and internal/external customers and be proactive in your approach.

Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficient in using Creo for creating models, assemblies, and drawings. An understanding of SolidWorks within EPDM is advantageous but not essential.
• Experience in component and assembly design for manufacturing.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel for data interrogation and BoM analysis.
