Electrical test engineer

My client is recruiting for an Electrical Test Engineer who will be responsible for performing diagnostic tests, data analysis and report writing for the Field Services team. This position includes project execution, including preparing equipment, troubleshooting on site, and equipment logistics. The duties involve project management, direct interaction with clients and visiting customers in the electric power industry.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform on-site field tests at client sites including, but not limited to, electric power generating stations, substations, petrochemical, industrial, and commercial facilities.
- Conduct routine and special testing of power and distribution transformers, voltage regulators, bushings and circuit breakers from different manufacturers (ABB, Siemens, Waukesha, SMIT and others).
- Perform routine and special tests such as partial discharge (offline and online), EMI, dissipation factor, voltage withstand, on power transformers, cables, and generators.
- Provide engineering support and written reports on the interpretation of measured data.
- Support inventory and equipment planning to meet job and project requirements.
- Related duties as assigned by Field Services Manager
- Domestic and International travel required: Approximately 50%-60%. This level can vary due to customer demand.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field OR a combination of experience, education and training equivalent to a four-year degree in the above areas.
Required experience:
- Two years of experience working in substation, power plants, nuclear facilities, or industrial power systems
- Two years of experience operating, and trouble-shooting test equipment used for electrical apparatus tests
- Two years field testing experience with power equipment such as transformers, generators, motors, and circuit breakers, particularly performing the following: Power Factor and Capacitance, SFRA, and other specialized test
- Two years of experience evaluating electrical test data from power apparatus for detailed apparatus condition assessment
- Driver’s License required
Preferred experience (Not Required):
- Experience with high voltage test equipment (resonant test systems)
- Experience with Partial Discharge equipment
- Familiarity with Partial Discharge measurement
- Familiarity with radio frequency signals and measurements
