This role sits within the Manufacturing team reporting directly to the Manufacturing Director. The purpose of the role is to ensure that the quality control systems continually develop in line with the needs of my client to meet the needs of its stake holders, inclusive of customer base. Ensure that the design intent is met by reviewing engineering and manufacturing specifications, monitoring materials for any defects and resolving quality issues with the supply base.
The role will ensure that a knowledge of abilities is developed and retained at each of the core suppliers to ensure my clients design processes are fully aware of any constraints and will also compile, feedback and work with each supplier to address ongoing quality issues.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Developing and implementing quality control Systems and Standards such as ISO9000 and ISO14000
  • Directing and coordinating the company’s quality control system
  • Ensuring that all products delivered meet the design intent and quality levels required
  • Working with the development departments and be a key contributor to the product delivery process, ensuring manufacturing aspects within the supply chain are considered at an early stage and pulling new products through to manufacture
  • Working with the design and procurement functions in researching, sourcing, and assessing the best vendors to supply the necessary products
  • Visiting vendor facilities and observing the manufacturing environment to review and assess their procedures
  • Performing regular quality control audits to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with company and federal standards
  • Reviewing incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality
  • Conducting tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues
  • Maintaining detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates
  • Serving as a liaison between senior management and the vendors to identify quality issues and come up with solutions
  • Conducting vendor assessment and surveillance audits at the appropriate frequency

Experience

  • An in-depth knowledge base of ISO900 and 14000, including implementation and maintenance of either of both.
  • An in-depth knowledge and experience of Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Lean Manufacturing techniques. Six Sigma is desirable
  • A strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD
