Position: Hydrographic Data Processor
Qualification: Hydrographic Surveyor Qualification –Cat B or equivalent.
Location: Work from home in UK, Ireland, Australia or Canada

Our client is an ocean data company that collects data for various purposes, ranging from mapping the seabed to monitoring the environment. They employ a unique approach by using a marine robotic system known as an Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) instead of conventional crewed survey ships.
Overview

Responsible for the processing and reporting of survey data collected, to a high quality and efficiently.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Survey data processing and reporting, in a shift pattern when required.
  • Develop and verify automated processing processes.
  • Diligent log keeping and data management.
  • Planning of processing workflow to meet project requirements.
  • Survey software Setup – offline hardware and software setup prior to project start up.
  • Quality Control – monitoring of the data being captured and feed back to online surveyors.
  • Preparation of technical reports and production of data for delivery within stated deadlines to a high standard.
  • Data processing planning and progress tracking.
  • Small tasks befitting the running of the data processing department.

On occasion this role may involve:

  • Online surveying.
  • Supporting with information for tenders.
  • Managing and maintaining Quality, Environment and Health and Safety standards including updating, implementing and management of all ISO processes as appropriate to the role.
  • Implementing, maintaining, managing and updating all standard operating procedures and processes appropriate to the role.

 

Requirements: Essential Skills / Attributes and Experience

  • A higher education degree in hydrographic surveying or related science-based subject.
  • 2 years+ MBES Survey Experience (hydrographic survey and assets inspections).
  • Survey data processing experience of MBES and Side-scan Sonar Data.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible and proactive nature with a keen attention to detail.

 

Desirable Experience

  • ARC GIS and AutoCad and AutoChart knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Experience of marine survey data post processing software (e.g. POSpac MMS, QPS softwares, BeamworX softwares , etc).
  • Experience of marine survey data online software is an advantage.
  • Experience with Python coding in a hydrographic/geophysical survey application
