My client is the UK’s leading renewable energy generator of low carbon power from captured landfill and mineral methane. My client generates most of their electricity by capturing thousands of tonnes of methane from landfill sites and uses that resource to generate low carbon electricity.
About the role:
- You will be an expert at tackling engine breakdowns, rising to the challenge of fault finding, getting to the root cause of problems on our fleet of four stroke gas combustion engines. You will be confident in stripping and rebuilding engines to ensure maximum availability of gas and related plant through trouble shooting and fault rectification.
- If you have experience repairing and rebuilding petrol or diesel engines, generators, or mechanical plant equipment, this is an ideal opportunity for you.
- This is a field-based role attending breakdowns, your work will be allocated daily covering sites based in the Warwickshire, Bedfordshire, Norfolk, Essex, and Kent area.
Job outline:
- Attend breakdown call outs to perform comprehensive engine strip and repairs on our fleet gas reciprocating engines, mainly Jenbacher and CATERPILLAR gensets
- Identifying failures against agreed company technical standards, and raises work orders to allow the effective and efficient resolution
- Monitor the work of contractors who attend the repair of power generation equipment, gas process plant and Balance of Plant
- Ensuring that all work dispatched by the Logistics Centre is completed efficiently and to the required standard, reporting your location and job status on a timely basis
- Document site visits, complete service reports, booking parts out in real time and reporting actual shortfalls to maintain van stock
- Ensuring you are qualified and trained for the tasks you undertake and that you comply with the Company’s procedures, HSQE policies and relevant legislation
- Ensuring all equipment and processes comply with legislation, permits and the company’s HSQE requirements
Requirements:
- You have experience working on 4 stroke internal combustion engines or are competent at fault finding, stripping, repairing, and rebuilding engines
- Experience working on Jenbacher, CAT, MWM, Perkins, MTU or CHP engines would be an advantage
- You are safety conscience with strong problem-solving skills
- You have a full UK driving license, preferably with field based work experience
- You are confident using a laptop and completing online reports
- The shift start times are 5am, 8am, 11am and 3pm with every 5th week as a rest week including 2 weekends
- Hold a full UK driving license, preferably with field-based experience
