Harlow Recruitment

About this position:

We are looking for a Automation Technician to join a business based in Laindon, Essex in a purpose-built design, engineering and headquarters building with 55 employees at this site.

The majority of their business is the design and assembly of filling and packaging lines for
aerosols with a high proportion for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. The basic equipment is made by the principal company in Switzerland. The company incorporates this and other machines into the lines, linking them with their own conveyors, enclosures, electrical control systems and ancillary equipment.

All panel building, wiring and PLC programming is done on site and other departments specialise in machine assembly, commissioning and documentation. Experience is always valued, although for this role, a firm grounding in control systems and PLC based control, would make an ideal candidate.

Initially, the successful candidate will work alongside the Automation Technicians, to gain experience and training on the machines and control systems and design.

Training will be provided to familiarise the successful applicant with the specialist machinery and equipment they supply.

The role would involve working with electricians and panel builders to assist in the
design and build the control systems and machine builds.

Job Responsibilities:

Designing PLC based electrical control systems from design specifications.
Programming PLC, Touchscreen, and Safety Configurable relay systems.
Configuring Remote I/O, servo motor and inverter drives.
Integrating ancillary equipment into the production lines such as vision systems etc.
Fault finding electrical control systems, PLC, and hardwired systems.
Commissioning, support, and service work at customers’ sites.
Once trained and familiar with the machines the role would involve taking on projects from initial design to on-site run up and commissioning.
A certain amount of travel is required to support the companies worldwide customer base.
