About this position:

Want to work for the world’s leading high-performance maritime design and applied technologies company who has won a grant to develop zero emission ferries which is a project that will revolutionise the future of maritime transport? This company are recruiting for a BMS Engineer who will be responsible for the specification of the software & hardware associated with the management of each level of the ESS from cell to system level control & monitoring.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design & develop the BMS solutions for the eFoiler HV battery system, pack & cell management for single & multi pack operation
  • Author System Requirements Document (SRD)
  • Author and execute a Design Verification Plan (DVP) for BMS at component & system level
  • Lead Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for BMS development
  • Investigate & debug BMS errors during vessel development
  • Liaise with Tier1 & Tier2 suppliers for the design & supply of BMS
  • BMS component & hardware selection for HiL-rig & battery development
  • Ensure BMS solutions are compliant with relevant regulations & certifying bodies
  • Support the boat development programs where required
  • Attend team and 1-1 meetings and fulfil reporting requirements 

Experience Required:

  • Holder of Bachelor (BSc /BEng) degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering)
  • 5+ years working in a senior engineering position with 3+ years as BMS Engineer
  • Able to design & develop BMS solutions for HV ESS up to 800 V
  • Able to author & execute complex DVP against system requirements
  • Experience with typical automotive standards such as ECE R100, ISO 26262, etc
  • Experience with authoring DFMEA & Fault Analysis
  • Experience of HV battery charging & thermal management systems
  • Knowledge of data communication protocols including CAN, SPI, I2C, RS-485, RS-232, UDP
  • Able to model HV battery systems in Matlab/Simulink environments
  • Experience with diagnostics tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANape etc
