We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Lead to join an exciting consultancy. This company is a team of innovators, engineers and delivery experts who combine the skill sets to share F1 techniques and processes to businesses with wider industrial and commercial applications. 

As a Manufacturing Lead, you will lead the Manufacturing Technology team, supporting both client-facing and internal R&D projects. This role is focused on ensuring efficient project delivery, developing team capabilities, and contributing to the overall growth and profitability. This role will provide hands-on support across technical and some managerial functions.

Responsibilities:    

  • Team Management:Along with the Team Leads, motivate, and develop the Manufacturing Technology capability within the business, ensuring a high level of performance and engagement
  • Project Delivery: Along with the Technical Project Leads support the management and execution of client and internal R&D projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
  • Resource Allocation: Collaborate with the Engineering Director and Programme Management team to ensure that the Manufacturing Technology team is adequately resourced for all projects
  • Technology Strategy: Assist in defining and implementing the Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, and Operational Performance strategy, including technology roadmaps and process improvements
  • Process Improvement: Help in continuously reviewing and optimizing Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, and Operational processes, systems, and tools
  • Intellectual Proper1:y: Identification, protection, and management of relevant intellectual property for the business
  • Proposal Support: Contribute to the preparation of proposals for new projects, ensuring technical and commercial feasibility
  • Client and Partner Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients and internal teams, to support business development and project execution
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure the team operates in compliance with all health and safety regulations and maintain a strong safety culture
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the Manufacturing Technology Director, CEO, General Manager, Programme Director, and other senior leaders
  • Report progress to key stakeholders, providing updates on project delivery and team performance

Experience Required:

  • Manufacturing  and  Operational  Knowledge:  Demonstrated understanding and practical experience in manufacturing technology, lean manufacturing principles, and operational performance (e.g., DFM/DFA, waste reduction, optimisation)
  • Industry 4.0 knowledge – FMCG, Pharma, Food & BEV
  • Project Management: Ability to assist in managing and overseeing project delivery, ensuring resources, schedules, and budgets are aligned with business needs
  • Team Development: Assist in identifying talent needs within the Manufacturing Technology team, supporting recruitment efforts and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
  • Technical Decision-Making: Support technical problem-solving by identifying and delivering the most effective technical solutions within the project’s constraints
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical and project-related information clearly to internal and external stakeholders
  • Business Development: Actively support efforts to win new business by contributing to proposals and maintaining relationships with client
