Job Title: CNC Setter / Operator
This position begins as a 12-week temporary contract, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent full-time role upon successful completion of the contract period.
Role Definition:
The CNC Setter / Operator is responsible for setting and operating CNC mills and lathes to manufacture components as per drawings, ensuring on-time production according to plan.
Hours of Work:
- Monday to Thursday: 07:45 AM – 4:30 PM
- Friday: 07:45 AM – 3:30 PM
- Break: 45-minute unpaid lunch break each day
- Total hours: 39 hours per week

Accountable to:
Operations Manager
Day-to-Day Duties:
- Set and operate CNC vertical and horizontal twin pallet mills, turning centres with live tooling, CNC lathes using Fanuc control systems, and 5-axis CNC machining centres with 8-pallet AWC.
- Select appropriate tools and machine settings.
- Operate manual milling, turning, and grinding machines.
- Inspect parts using measuring equipment to ensure conformance to drawings.
- Complete production job documentation accurately.
- Prepare and handle raw materials.
- Perform weekly/monthly fluid checks and machine maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and propose improvements.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize processes.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks within the jobholder’s capability.
Performance Measures:
- % of non-conforming components produced.
- % of on-time delivery of components to plan.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience setting and operating CNC lathes and mills using Fanuc controls.
- Relevant manufacturing engineering qualification.
Skills:

Essential:
- Ability to set and operate CNC lathes and milling machines, including tooling setup.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings.
- Understanding of engineering tolerances.
- Skilled in using micrometres, verniers, and gauges to inspect parts.
- Strong communication skills, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
- Proactive and positive approach.

- Experience with CAD/CAM offline programming, particularly using Fusion 360.
