About the position:

Main Responsibilities:

  • To improve the Product Design through experimental techniques
  • Plan and manage the DVP activities
  • Develop the Outboard alongside current and future legislation
  • Where in house facilities are not available for a particular test, procure the relevant service at an external provider
  • Lead the product development activity in-house and externally at suppliers / Engineering Service Providers
  • Specify and install appropriate instrumentation based on test requirements
  • Lead the Root Cause analysis of any Test Incidences, using a structured 8D process for problem resolution
  • Working closely with the Design Team to deliver targets
  • Make sure all outboards successfully pass all Functional, Durability and Reliability testing and ensure that the Performance Targets from the Functional Requirements Document are achieved
  • Author technical reports from the test activity as evidence to support the Engineering Sign Off documentation
  • Produce Test and Development status reports to the Leadership Team
  • Responsible for competitor benchmarking
  • Keep abreast of technological developments and make recommendations to the business that impact the Product Route maps and in-house test facilities
  • Justify any capital investment for in-house test facilities

Previous Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in Propulsion engineering. Automotive as well as Marine experience will be considered.
  • Ability to understand technical issues
  • Focused approach with results orientated; ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to communicate externally & internally at all levels, with focus on technical items
  • Always Operating with full integrity

  • Process driven
  • Worked in a Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) and can demonstrate the ability to ‘roll their sleeves up’ and personally get things done as part of a small team
